Nerd-culture culinary website Eat.Geek.Play, where the reporting ranges “from food you really shouldn’t be eating, to comic books you should be reading and games you should be playing” reviewed CHRONICLES OF ALOS: THE TOWER #2 (“The Vault”) on January 17 and called the fantasy/heist mash-up from Greece “Infinitely entertaining”. In his review of “The Vault”, the second part of the three-part saga, Scott Ryann Kennard wrote:
Under the sewers, past the vault, look out elves, here they come. In this issue, the elves drop the tower’s defenses and scour the depths of the treasure room, some fascinating scenery. However, their fervent drive for gold and glory leaves them vulnerable and ill prepared for a looming threat. Will Shadowflame’s magic be enough to transport them all home safely? Look to the conclusion of the trilogy where there is sure to be more light-hearted elf speak amongst a backdrop of exquisitely illustrated action.
If you love the revelry of bickering elves while they dexterously complete impossible tasks, this is the book for you. It truly is where the magic lies. The conflict of interest (quite literally, half the elves seem to lose sight of the goal) proves infinitely entertaining.
CHRONICLES OF ALOS: THE TOWER is written by Christos Stavropoulos with art by Othon Nikolaids and is digitally co-published by Grand Design Digital and Webcomics.gr. The full series is available in English and Greek from ComicsPlus; issues #1 and #2 are available in English with Guided View from comiXology, with issue #3 coming in February 2014.
